Canberra Chinese School

​

Canberra Chinese School (CCS) is a high standard and non-profitable Chinese Community School in Canberra. We have three campuses in Belconnen, Woden and Gungahlin. We also run after-school Chinese programs at Red Hill Primary School on Wednesdays. Our mission is to promote Chinese learning through providing quality teaching to the school aged children.

The CCS weekend Chinese program is suitable for children aged 5 or above with basic oral communication skills in Mandarin. We focus on teaching Ma LiPing textbooks, which are highly recognised by Chinese language teaching experts around the world as the most effective model in teaching Chinese heritage students to speak and read Chinese. Students are able to learn 1,000 characters after four years' learning with our highly qualified and experienced Chinese teachers.

 

The CCS after-school Chinese program is specially designed for the students from both Chinese and non-Chinese backgrounds. We aim for the students to learn Chinese effectively in a fun and natural environment, progressing through with plenty of games and lots of laughter at affordable prices. In addition to the Chinese classes, CCS also offers many interesting Chinese culture related learning activities such as art and dancing classes.​​​

Spoken Chinese classes - Belconnen, Gungahlin and Woden campuses

We opened a new spoken Chinese class from Term 2, 2026 in Belconnen campus due to high demand. The first spoken Chinese class started in 2019 at Woden campus followed by another successful one at our Gungahlin campus in 2024. It contains some reading and writing for both Chinese and non-Chinese background students. These classes teach beginner and intermediate Chinese learning and equip students with vocabularies and common expressions for everyday interactions in Chinese.

Fees​

• Chinese class: $110 per term (extra cost for textbooks);

• Ma Liping Chinese textbook: $101 per set；

• Other extracurricular/Interest classes such as drawing, dancing classes: $15 per class (unless otherwise specified)

 

Refund Policy & Notes for both Chinese and Extracurricular/hobby Classes

• Returning Students (Standard): Full tuition is required for students with 3 or fewer absences per term.

• Returning Students (Extended Absence): If a student has more than 3 continuous absences and parents have provided at least two weeks' notice, tuition will be adjusted to reflect the actual number of classes attended.

• New Mid-term Students: Tuition is calculated based on the actual number of classes attended from the start date.

• Gungahlin Campus (Gold Creek High School): Sundays 9:30am - 11:30am (Chinese), 11:30am - 12:30pm (Other extracurricular/interest classes);

• Red Hill Primary after-school Chinese class: Wednesdays 3:30-5:30pm.​​
